Prep Time: 10 minutes + 2 hours marinating

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Serving: 4 people

A Word From The Cook

“easy to do and full of flavour”

Ingredients

  • 1 2lb piece of salmon
  • 1 cedar plank
  • 2 tbsp grainy mustard
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary (or 1/2 tbsp dried)
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp liquid smoke

Instructions

  1. combine mustard, ketchup, oil, rosemary, chili powder, pepper and liquid smoke and mix well
  2. spread over salmon; generously and marinate ideally 2 hours (at least 30 minutes)
  3. pre soak the cedar plank for at least 2 hours;  place the soaked cedar plank on the BBQ and leave for 3-4 minutes until you can smell the cedar (or see smoke!)
  4. turn the plank and place the salmon on the plank, skin side down if you are cooking it with skin on
  5. close the BBQ and cook on medium heat for 20 minutes (white juices of salmon will be visible)
  6. remove from plank by leaving the skin behind on the plank

Thanks Jean. It’s a good one for sure. I’ve not tried it for a while….your comment reminded me to do it again.
