27 Jul Apple Crisp (Gluten Free)
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups Rolled Oats
- 1/4 cup Brown sugar
- 1/8 tsp Salt
- 1 stick Butter ( I prefer the unsalted)
- 2 lbs Apples (Courtland are a good baking apple) about 5 -6 apples peeled and cut into 1/4 inch slices
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Dried Cranberries
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Instructions
Topping
- Pre heat oven to 375
- Divide the rolled oats into 2 parts (1 cup and 1/2 cup)
- In a food processor, chop 1/2 cup of rolled oats until coarsely ground.
- Combine these coarsely ground roll oats with whole rolled oats in a medium bowl
- Add the the brown sugar, butter and salt and mix together using a pastry cutter.
Filling
- Combine apples, brown sugar, cranberries, and cinnamon until apples are well coated with sugar and cinnamon
- Transfer to a large pie plate or 9 inch square baking pan
- Top with the topping mixture
- Cover with parchment paper lined tin foil and bake for s30 minutes
- Remove the tin foil and parchment paper and continue to bake for another 30 minutes
- Cool slightly but serve warm (with whipped cream or ice cream) and top with Crisp Apple Chips
